Last February...Things sucked...at least I thought they did...but one Sunday...we were watching a movie in Sunday school...and I just started crying...I didn't really know why...Mark came over to me...and he prayed with me...it was the most spiritual I had felt in a long time...and he read me some Scripture...I can't explain how I felt...like I was going to throw up...As Micah says...I was so full of the Holy Spirit...I felt like something had to come out...It was one of those "mountain top moments" you always pray for...so you can actually feel close to God...Now...I wear the Scripture around my neck...literally...and always have them with me...its the most amazing thing...I can't even expain it and do it justice...
So...Tidbits from Matthew 5...The Beatitudes and such...Mark read to me..
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they are comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven!!!
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven.
"You have heard that it was said, 'eye for and eye, and tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you: Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
If your brother sins against you, go show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established be the testimony of two or three withnesses.'
Ok...and today's sermon...the book of Esther...how she is a hero of the Bible...thank God for Veggietales! That was the easiest sermon to understand! Thanks Pastor Rick and the congregation!!! Be careful or you will be banished to "The Island of Eternal Tickling!!"
"Have you ever notived that some friends who get over being mad at you quickly? Then there are others who get mad and hold a grudge for days or weeks. Their pride is hurt, and they're not about to forgive you. The pagan official Haman was like that. He thought the Jew Mordecai had insulted him (even though he was dong what was right and what God wanted him to do)...and he held such a grudge that he plotted to wipe out the whole Jewish race. He didn't succeed, but holding that grudge was the sign of a hateful and wicked person. Aren't you glad God doesn't hold grudges when you do something wrong? God is eager to fogive. And God is eager for his people to follow his example of forgiveness and to not hold grudges."
Think about it...His son died for you...and He can still forgive you for what you have done...so why is it so hard for us? Especially when its sinful to hold grudge and NOT forgive??? Man...I love this series of sermons!!! First...Vacation Bible School...now...Veggie Tales!!!...plus its all about the women of the Bible...yay!!! |
